glad you found your way to this webiste. My name is Christopher. I’m volunteering for Germanys and Europes non profit assosiation regarding model aviation, the DMFV (Deutscher Modellflug Verband, German Modelaviation Assosiation). I’m the responsible for the drone racing and FPV devision in our organisation. I started hosting races in 2017 with the first racing series in Germany. I got the opportunity to be the race lead on multiple instances of the FPV Festival Friedewalde with over 200 participants as well as on all three installments of the World Drone Cup in Turkey.
In Germany I switched to the MGP rules and Global Qualifier format in 2019. Our pilotes welcomed this change since they now have a chance to compare their skills with other international pilots. Also the rules are solid and well established. Only downside is, that very few pilots will have the chance and the funds to travel to the US to participate in the MGP Championships. That’s why I came up with the idea of a MultiGP European Championship.
Note: Everything following is open for discussion. It’s just a rough idea to kick things off here in Europe and grow the hobby!
Here are my current thoughts of how this could go on from here…
- Qualifications events in as many European countries as possible
- Best pilots of each country getting a slot for the EU Champs
- Qualification events in 2022, EU Champs in 2023
- Qualifications in 2022 not exclusive to MGP Global Qualifier format to get started more easily
- Two Tracks for Pro-/Sportsclass -> approx 100 pilots in total
- 3-4 day event, changing countries each year
If you’re interested in participating I’d appreciate you leaving some quick informations to get in touch with you. A kick off meeting is sheduled for mid/end November.
Note: This form ist targeted towards race/event organizers. If you don’t plan to be on the organisatorial side of such a project, please don’t submit this form!
